Layout and Bookmaking Services

Doublebunny Press is pleased to create all kinds of things that you can hold in your hands and read. And even some things that you can read on a screen.

The best part about Doublebunny services is that every little bit is economically accessible. All of our work comes with one fee for design, and then options for printing and assembling – if you want to assemble on your own, we’ll make it easy with pdf files that can be worked with right at the print shop; or if you want the product put together by our dainty paws, we can certainly set that up. We’ll work with you every step of the way, even if (especially if!) you want something very special. And if you bring us a challenge of something we’ve never done before, we’ll be kinda thrilled, actually.

If you have a project, big or small, easy or weird, Doublebunny can very probably make it happen for you. Have a look at some of our most popular projects below, and contact us about your project at applebatiks@gmail.com

Chapbooks

Our favoritest things to make here at the press are chapbooks! Doublebunny has designed beautiful books of poetry and prose for artists like Sarah Sapienza, Tony Brown, and Zilla McCue. While we do make traditional 5½x8½” chapbooks , Doublebunny is best known for our (nearly) square-format books, printed 7×8½”, with our specialty being the split-cover chapbook, which can be made either in one color or in two, and can be designed to hold a secret, or turn upside-down to be a double flip-chap. Doublebunny also makes a fair number of chapbooks in this size with full-color, one-piece covers.

Pricing

$75 for layout up to 24 pages (about 8-10 poems)
$25 for cover artwork
$15/25 copies for assembly
+ cost of printing,* any specialty papers (if that’s part of your project), and postage

The process is simple by design: we get things rolling through email – shoot us a note to applebatiks@gmail.com. What we will need from you are: 8-10 of your poems in a Word doc or through GoogleDocs, the order you would like them to appear in your book, any previous publication credits you would like to include, your bio and bio picture, and any other odds and ends for the book, like a dedication or a logo. The layout rabbits here at the office then put it together and start sending you pdf drafts to check over. You email us back with adjustments to be made, and we send the next drafts. Once you’ve approved the final drafts, and we’re both satisfied that there are no typos, the book goes to final layout, and we ask for a printing deposit. As soon as that’s received, we go to print! It’s usually 1-2 business days before your books are mailed to you. At that point, you’ll be invoiced for the layout, art, and postage. The whole process is fairly quick, and can be done to suit your deadlines.

Digital masters of your book and the cover art are included in the layout price, even if your books are assembled here in our offices. That said, Doublebunny will always retain copies of the digital masters so that you can order reprints from us if you’d prefer. The cost for reprints are: printing, any specialty papers required, assembly, and postage. Duplicate copies of your masters can also be ordered for $5 each, and hard copies for $10 plus postage (we ship them flat).

*We require a deposit before we go to the printer. The cost of printing is calculated once the initial layout is set up and we have a page count.

CDs

We also rock the pants off some cd design. We can do a basic envelope design with a sticker, or we can get fanceh, and do a whole cd tray liner and booklet.
